Coffee and Art Show

On Friday morning, my parents let me have a little art show at our house in Lafayette. MY FIRST ART SHOW SINCE MIDDLE SCHOOL! I just happened to have about 8 orders last week that I had already finished and with the extended weekend trip to Lafayette; it was perfect timing for a show.

I'm chalking it up as successful as I got two more orders plus a silent auction donation that I made turned into my mom selling her very own Mammy's Cupboard that I made specifically for her. I'm excited that my Mammy's Cupboard is well-received enough to where more than just my "Cousin Scott" and my own mother like it.

We've enjoyed our time in Lafayette together. Max is eating lots of different foods while Mommy and Daddy are getting more sleep at night. Not that I think that the food helps at all (and from everything I've read out there, food does not make a baby sleep better at night), it's just that Mommy and Daddy aren't going in as often when he cries. I had a long talk with my own mommy about whether or not to feed Max in the middle of the night. After three nights of crying it out with no improvements on more sleep for anyone, I've changed my mind. I've decided that I will still nurse him once or twice a night, depending on how long he has been asleep. Not because I believe he needs it physically, but emotionally and mentally, I believe it is comforting for both him and me mutually. I'm only nursing him until he's a year old anyway. We've made it 6.5 months already. Another 5 months is very doable. Last night I nursed him twice and I feel much better today than I had the days after I just let him cry most of the night. Plus, I don't mind being able to eat an extra 500 to 1000 calories a day!!!

Max also enjoyed his first box house. These were my favorite when I was little and it seems Max is fond of them too. He ate a little piece out of one of the windows. I'll be looking for it in his diaper in the next day or so.

  1. I love the box house. Max looks like such a big kid standing up and looking out of the window. He's lucky to have such a fun mom. Also, the picture of Max with Kermit is so funny!
